LEAVING HERE
LEAVING HERE is a short digital film that takes place on New Year's Eve, 1999. Zack is just getting off work at 11 minutes to midnight when he gets a call from his girlfrend. She wants him to make it to the party she's at so they can kiss at the stroke of 12. Zack doesn't think he'll be able to make it. Then Zack's friend gets on the phone and bets him $100 he can't make it to the party, kiss his girl, and also bring a bottle of champagne. And it's off to the races.

LEAVING HERE was made in August of 2004 in Asheville, NC, and features Jeremy Hargroves, Jason Smith, Francesca Garvey, John Ferrer, and Hunter King as well as music by Joe, John, Aubrey, Adam Cullum, and Luke Harris. It was shot by Greg Hudgins and edited by Nathan Whiteside.

A word from Joe: "Although it was rejected as a script at film school and rejected by some festivals and pretty much kept in a shoebox for a while, we are happy to offer it for you to view here now. It was the first thing we all did together out of film school, it was very fun to make, and i hope that shows in the film, and, i wrote the script first year of school, and for almost 2 years (until it got made) I would daydream about the moment when Zack slides around the corner on the gravel when he's first running because i pictured Foghat's "Slow Ride" to play (and build where our song now does) and kick into "Slooww Riide" right when he slides. That moment made me smile while I lay in bed picturing it. I also daydreamed about when he slams the money on the counter at the end and then smiles and a song kicks in, which was basically where the idea sprung from, making good on your word and all, but anyway, I gotta go now."
